    Hi Everyone!

Thanks for letting me join the group.

I haven't been as active here on MT as I was in the beginning due to work and family life, but I still get on to check everything out all the time.

I may be one of the most senior members around too lol, but you never can outgrow the things you love the most. :)

@ yothsothgoth: Yeah, I'm probably a close second behind Sailorchiron. I'm 32 and counting. I know I've seen a couple 40-somethings roaming MT, but I don't know who gets to claim the title of "Oldest Oldster".

Anyone out there want to challenge Sailorchiron for the title? ^_~ hehe

  3. sailorchiron 23wk 1d ago

@ yothsothgoth: You're not the oldest, I'm 34. ^_^ I have almost no time for MT these days D:

True true, Abis... *wonders if she's one of the eldest here - being almost 29* <shudders>

*going back to an earlier topic*

I find inspiration in some anime... the story of triumph or someone's personal struggle with life, feelings, etc. that has familiarity to my own odd life. Even though the anime usually involves some outlandish occurrence happening to them which completely forces them to confront whatever trivial or serious problem they needed to face and in the end, they're usually stronger afterwards... which is something I'd like to mimic with my own life.

If I were to have a motto, its be... "helping those who cannot help themselves." I've been volunteering for a local spay/neuter clinic which is also involved with the humane society. I really believe that its our responsibility to take care of one another... whether you take care of another person or an animal. It doesn't matter. We all share this earth and we all have a right to be here and live a good life, including all creatures.

In some anime, there are similar declarations such as my own, "we're all in this together... we're all here to help one another, to take care of another, to love one another and get through whatever crisis comes at us." I just wish that the rest of the world as well as my own government would see that we are all here on this one small, fragile planet... its all we have. All of us - we need to work together to survive as a whole. We humans are in control of the planet's climate, geography, topography, irrigation, food stores, everything. We're the only animal that has that ability to globally change our surroundings- so its our responsibility to take care of ourselves, our fellow humans, and the animals we share this world with. <gets off soapbox> ^_^'

Lol I guess I don't consider too old now.. but I also wish to join here! Waaa I'm an oldie! xD

With all the tiny little 13 year olds saying "anime is for kids" and thinking it can simply be grown out of like a pair of socks, it gets quite annoying. I love anime, always have, and always will. I never would consider myself old, but after you hit 20, you're suddenly an old fart in their eyes. I can't help but wonder if they really know much about anime at all since some of it is geared toward much older audiences. And, after all, it's not 13 year old kids that make the anime they watch anyway, but the older generations. I'm just glad there is a group here that finally gets that. We are the ones who run things for them any way right? :)

Hi, can I join? I might be a little young to be feeling old but.. I certainly feel old when I actually have to google "tl;dr" and "rsrsrsrsrs" to understand what in the world my younger friends are saying. :x lol

Anime/manga allows me to connect with my students? Lol... though I had to crack down on what was proper Reading Log material... XD

Very true, kuzuryume. I agree. I do some D&D style table-top role-play games and I can't count the number of times that my character inspiration was from anime. :)

How 'bout you all? Anyone else want to share how anime inspires your life. Or how about an inspirational quote you follow?

  10. kuzuryume 47wk 1d ago

anime can be a great source for inspiration, no matter what is your job or life ^.~.... It's a part of what I am as well as music.
Never deny what you're, embrace it and love/live it ^^.

2011 is upon us. How 'bout those resolutions? Anybody got any big ones to tackle?

I'm resolving to use my time more wisely on the net so I have more real-life time. As well as tackling some projects I keep saying I want to do and have never touched...like writing!

My wallet is still intact surprisingly. :D My husband and I bought an "entertainment book" for $10-15 for the Vancouver/Seattle area - so we got most everything (zoos, museums, food) half price/bogo. Totally worth the money considering it saved us at least $150. Vancouver has better traffic in my opinion, but the kph took a bit to get used to. I had the best sushi I've ever eaten there. Seattle was nerve racking on the roads. 5 lanes merging into one - contraflow lanes... >_< Mt. Rainier was an awesome sight, but my poor husband and I were terrified driving up and down the mountain. T_T Both places were awesome! Only 74f as a high there instead of the 106f here in Arkansas! XD

...okay, so what is everyone up to?

  19. Elves Aug 05, 2010

So Yothsothgoth, I have one question: Are you now broke after your trip? ;) I was in Chicago that very same weekend and I know my wallet is now worse for wear. lol

How is the Seattle/Vancouver area? I've always wanted to visit the Northwest.

  20. yothsothgoth Jul 29, 2010

My husband and I will be up in the Seattle WA/Vancouver B.C. area this upcoming week. Anyone know much about that area of the world? I'm super excited about actually having a vacation and being technically in a different country, but I'm dreading the 6 hour plane ride. Ugh. I'm really happy we got the tickets free (jumps for joy)... but everything up there is so much more expensive than it is here (even gasoline)- I'm worried we'll be broke when we get back. -_-'

I think we could use a spiffy new retro looking layout... any volunteers?

  22. Elves Jul 18, 2010

Carnivorous Plant exhibit? That sounds really cool. How many plants are there? I know about three different kinds: Pitchers, Venus Fly Traps, and Sticky Dew Plants.

  23. fireflywishes Moderator Jul 07, 2010

If I could, I'd be traveling around the world... starting in Japan or South Korea~

(...but I like your idea sailor! We could go and tan on the beach together! XD)

Though I FINALLY got to do something I'd been wanting to do today! I went to see the carnivorous plant exhibit at the Conservatory of Flowers. ^_^ Pics on Facebook soon~

  24. Elves Jul 05, 2010

Hrm...I'd be traveling and seeing the sights out and about anywhere and everywhere. I definitely would have to return to Japan and see some of Tokyo and the Japanese countryside. I'd also love to visit places in Europe, Stonehenge and London in particular. Back in the good ol' U.S. of A. I really want to see the giant redwood trees in the NW and maybe the Grand Canyon (if it's not sweltering hot).
